PROMISES (?)

WE WERE TOLD THAT CONTRACEPTION WOULD:

Give us Worry Free Sex without consequences
Stabilize Marriages through increased control over family planning
Lower the Divorce Rate
Prevent Child Abuse
Reduce Poverty through Population Control
Prevent Abortion
Protect against Sexually Transmitted Diseases

                                                                                  REALITY CHECK

THE PILL AND PROMISCUITY:

Dr. Robert Kirstner, co-developer of the Pill: “For years I thought the pill would not lead to promiscuity but I’ve change my mind.  I think it probably has.”  (“In Brief: Harvard, Mass." ALL About Issues, June 1981, p.5)

Dr. Min-Chueh Chang, co-developer of the Pill: “(Young people) indulge in too much sexual activity…I personally feel the pill has spoiled people.  It’s made them more permissive. ("In Brief: Harvard, Mass."  ALL About Issues, Aug 1981, p.6)

CONTRACEPTION-ABORTION CONNECTION:

Malcolm Potts, former Medical Director of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, said in 1973: “As people turn to contraception, there will be a rise, not a fall, in the abortion rate.  No society has controlled its fertility without recourse to a significant number of abortions.  In fact, abortion is often the starting place in the control of fertility.” (Andrew Scholberg, Abortionists and Planned Parenthood;  Familiar Bedfellows.  International Review of Natural Family Planning, Winter 1980, p. 298)

Christopher Tietze, who has been called the world's most experienced abortion statistician: " A high correlation between abortion experience and contraceptive experience can be expected in populations in which contraception and abortion are available…. women who have practiced contraception are more likely to have had abortions than those who have not practiced contraception; and women who have had abortions are more likely to have been contraceptors than women without a history of abortion."  (“Abortion Readings and Research," Toronto:  Butterworth and Co., 1981, pp. 54 - 60).

Christopher Tietze: “The safest regimen of control for the unmarried and for married child spacers is the use of traditional contraceptive methods backed up by abortion;  but if this regimen is commenced early in the child bearing years, it is likely to involve several abortions in the course of her reproductive career for each women who chooses it." (Same source as above)

Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, Supreme Court Decision that confirmed Roe vs. Wade:  "In some critical respects abortion is of the same character as the decision to use contraception...for two decades of economic and social developments, people have organized intimate relationships and made choices that define their views of themselves and their places in society, in reliance on the availability of abortion in the event that contraception should fail." ("The Connection Between Contraception and Abortion" by Janet Smith, Distributed by One More Soul, Dayton, OH)

CONTRACEPTION-ABORTION-SEX EDUCATION CONNECTION:

Alan Guttmacher, after whom the research arm of Planned Parenthood is named, said in 1973:  The only avenue the International Planned Federation and its allies could travel to win the battle for abortion on demand is through sex education.” (Humanity Magazine, Aug/Sep 1979, p. 11).

DID YOU KNOW THAT SINCE THE LEGALIZATION OF CONTRACEPTION (1965 &1972):

Divorce Rate has Doubled
Cohabitation is now an acceptable norm
75% Divorce Rate for those who cohabit before marrying
Increase in Single Parent Homes with subsequent Increase in Poverty in those homes
Marital Infidelity is a greater temptation
Sexual Transgressions of many kinds now Abound
Depression Rate in Teens Who Are Sexually Active
Increase in Child abuse
All forms of Contraception Fail (including sterilization)
Abortion was Legalized after Contraception was Legalized
So far, in all Countries Where Contraception is Legalized, the Legalization of Abortion Follows
Most Abortions (60%) are Sought due to Contraception Failure
1.3 million Conventional Abortions yearly in the United States
Some Contraceptives can Cause Abortions (the Pill ,the Morning After Pill, the Shot, the Patch, the IUD, the Vaginal Ring)

The Population Problem of Today is Not Enough Youth to support increasing numbers of elderly:
(Fertility Rates 2005 - Replacement Rate =2.5 per woman:  Hungary 1.11, Greece 1.11, Bulgaria 1.10, Belarus 1.10, Lithuania 1.10, Russia 1.05, Bosnia 1.05, Slovenia 1.02, Ukraine 1.00, Spain .95, Latvia .95, Armenia .70, Africa 4.7, Asia 2.3, South America 2, North America 2.1, Caribbean, 2.4)

Food Availability:  "There appear to be no insurmountable resource and technology constraints at the global level that would stand in the way of increasing world food supplies by as much as required  by the growth of effective demand."  And, "...global food production has evolved to a stage where sufficient food is produced to meet the needs of every person on the planet."  ("Handbook on Population," Sassone, 1998, par. 203).

Land Availability:  At present, only half of the tillable land in the world is being used by farmers.  And the expected use of land for meeting expanding urban needs is predicted to be less than 2% of the world's land.  It is "not likely to seriously diminish the supply of land for agricultural production,"
(according to Paul Waggoner in his writings for the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology in 1994.)

Some Forms of Contraception Cause Breast Cancer
We Have a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)  Epidemic:
15 Million New STD Cases reported Yearly in the U.S.
3 Million STD Cases Among Teens reported Yearly in the U.S.
The AIDS Virus can Pass Through a Condom
Many STD's are transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, regardless of condom usage
